Since its inception in January 2008, we at BERcerts have been devoted to offering our clients custom made solutions for all of their energy saving needs. Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive one-stop shop for all of your certification requirements.

Our interdisciplinary team of architectural technologists, energy engineers to building surveyors are highly skilled with years of expertise in energy conservation both at the commercial/industrial and the domestic level. 

We are dedicated to helping our clients and will go to great lengths to find the most viable and realistic solution to all of your energy-saving concerns. Our team of expert energy consultants  will assess your individual energy needs and provide the most appropriate solutions for your home.

Meet the Team

Joseph Kearney - BSc (Eng), MBA, MA, C Eng, MIEI - Founder and Director

Joseph set up BERcerts.ie in January 2008. As an expert energy consultant and chartered engineer, Joseph has developed many solutions for clients who otherwise may have faced hefty bills. Joseph was one of the first to complete the SEAI Approved Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessors Course. Joseph is also fully insured and his SEAI registered Assessor no is 100936. Joseph is also the Managing Director of Advancement Consulting Ltd, which was established at the beginning of 2005. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength. Since the establishment of Advancement Consulting Ltd, he has provided specialist experience for a wide variety of companies including but not limited to bakeries, printing companies, meat companies and bread factories.

Cillian Donoghue – Senior Consultant 

Cillian Donoghue joined our team in 2011. He originally graduated from Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) with a Degree in Building Surveying, in 2007. He went on to work as a Site Engineer, working on large R.C frame commercial building projects in Dublin, and also on the Titanic Quarter Belfast. He is BERcerts.ie most long standing team member having worked with BERcerts.ie for 11+
years. He is both a greatly experienced Domestic and Commercial BER assessor, who has personally completed in excess of 2800 BER’s to date. Additionally, he is an NSAI registered Air Pressure Tester, and a SITRI registered Acoustic tester for the Part E sound regulations. He also holds places on the following SEAI registers; Reg. Technical Advisor, and the newly
formed SME Energy Auditor scheme, both of which deal with the processing of SEAI grants. Alongside his time with BERcerts.ie, Cillian has acquired further qualifications in; Thermal Modelling (DIT/TU Dublin), Passive building design, Wind turbine technologies, and has just successfully completed the P. Grad cert/ M. Sc in Building Surveying at Dundalk Institute of Technology.

Anna Idzikowska - Office Administrator

Anna works as an office administrator who provides administrative and bookkeeping support to our company. She has been working as a part of our team since March 2014.
She is involved with the coordination and implementation of office procedures and has responsibility for specific projects and tasks and, in some cases, coordinates the work of our staff as well as providing customer service.
​She's also in charge of developing and maintaining records for databases containing personnel, financial, and other information.

Brian Turley - Energy Engineer

​Brian joined our team in June 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Building
Surveying from Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT). From there he took a further interest in renewable energy and worked as a solar surveyor for a company in the North East.
This led him to qualify as a Domestic BER assessor and Domestic technical adviser. Brian has worked on numerous building projects throughout Ireland, giving advice to both homeowners and builders on how to make their property energy efficient.

David Coyle- Energy Engineer

David joined our team in April 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT). From the key fundamentals he learnt from his studies he quickly progressed at BERcerts.ie and registered as a Domestic & Commercial assessor, along with becoming a registered NSAI air tester. 
David has already accumulated a vast amount of experience working on Part L & nZEB compliance, from one off residential projects, to large scale housing developments. 
In 2020, David became one of the first NSAI registered Ventilation Validators in Ireland. This has created the chance for David & BERcerts.ie to offer Part F-ventilation services and guidance to clients.

Nathan Lynch- Architectural Technologist

​Nathan joined the BERcerts.ie team in 2021. He qualified as an Architectural Technologist from GMIT in 2018 and has gained invaluable experience from his time working for Architectural firms in the East of Ireland.
​
He is qualified and registered as a Domestic BER assessor. Nathan has worked on many projects over recent years including residential, commercial and industrial projects, giving him an in-depth knowledge of building regulations. Nathan was awarded the JJ Rattigan Award for his accomplishments over the course of his studies in GMIT. ​

Brian Cahill - a qualified BER Assessor, Project Manager and Architectural Technician

Brian joined our team in March 2023.
Brian is a qualified BER Assessor, Project Manager and Architectural Technician, who has more than 23 years of experience in the construction sector working on housing developments, large retail, and industrial projects. He adds value to the company by implementing his knowledge and experience to bring project management skills to all projects from new build consultations through to final BER certificates. His great communication skills and experience contribute to the effective integration of our BERcerts.ie procedures.
