Our goal at BERcerts.ie is to provide effective consultation and energy advice for commercial and residential properties for both new and existing customers. We provide professional independent advice for our clients on a various range of solutions including advice on renewable technologies. At BERcerts.ie, all our assessors are fully qualified SEAI registered energy assessors with many years experience.

Here at BERcerts.ie we are not simply interested in energy ratings  or indeed energy tests, we are here to provide the highest levels of service at ensuring your building complies in all the necessary areas of building energy compliance.

We provide BER certs and help with Part L compliance.

Our goal at BERcerts.ie is to provide our customers with effective energy advice when it comes to these areas. This takes the form of Building energy ratings or as there more commonly known BER’s through energy tests.
These tests consist of evaluating a structures energy performance by looking at its construction, heating systems, controls and lighting systems. So for domestics, when we enter a building we usually start by measuring the external walls, doors and windows of a building, checking what they are constructed of and if the windows are single or double glazed, etc.  This gives us the outline of the building and a feel for where everything is located such as the boiler, heating controls and vents. We then back track and do a room by room survey checking and marking the location of low energy lights, open vents, flues, chimneys, radiator TRV’s. The make and model of the boiler, any secondary heating system such as ranges or stoves and the hot water cylinder are noted including their controls. Then the attic is checked for insulation as it is one of the few places we can physically measure the insulation in a building. We document all these items by taking photos of them and the external façade for future reference including the meter box which usually allows use to date the building and double check the construction of the external walls. A similar procedure is carried out for commercials with a slight differences in the information were looking for.
Then with all this information gathered we enter it into the DEAP software if it’s a domestic and the G-isbem software if it’s a commercial and produce a BER Certificate.
When it comes to new builds there’s a bit more work involved. We have to be involved in the build from the get go. Through one on one consutation we aim to help our clients make the best decisions to achieve energy compliance when it comes to Part L of the Technical Guidance Documents set out by the government.  For instance with Part L compliance this means if you wanted an oil or gas boiler instead of a heat pump we can work with that by making other slight changes to U-values, insulation, controls, efficiencies etc. as long as we consulted early in the design stages as it becomes increasingly harder to make changes once construction has begun and when we may no longer be able to make compliance.
