What is a BER rating?
A BER or Building Energy Rating is a scale for the energy performance of a building. This scale ranges from A1 (most efficient) to G (least efficient). A BER can be carried out on both new and existing properties. A BER cert is compulsory for all domestic property that are:
A BER certificate will be valid for a maximum of 10 years once no material alteration has been made to the property.

What is involved in getting a BER rating?
The BER is calculated by inputting the areas of the dwelling's building element along with the heating system, heating controls, hot water system, ventilation, lighting etc. into the computer software to produce the BER rating . BERcerts will also supply an advisory report that will summarise the various improvements that can be carried out as well as estimate the BER rating cost? to improve the energy performance of the property.
