What is a Technical Assessment?

In 2018, SEAI introduced a grant for Heat pumps to be installed in dwellings built before 2011. In order to apply for the grant and prove that your house is suitable for the SEAI Heat Pump Grant then you have to have a Technical Assessment carried out by an SEAI registered Technical Advisor.

To ensure a heat pump can be installed the Heat Loss Indicator must be within a specific threshold. A technical advisor registered with SEAI will call out to the house where a survey will be carried out to determine the current heat loss of the property. The results from the survey will be compared against the HLI threshold to see if the property is at an acceptable level. The technical advisor will also produce a report outlining what options the clients have to reach the required HLI level and improve the BER rating.
